The role of Blockchain in Optimising Business Processes in the Digital Economy

Abstract

The article examines the potential of blockchain technologies as a tool for optimizing business processes in the context of the digital economy. Based on an analysis of theoretical foundations and practical examples, it is shown that blockchain facilitates the transformation of traditional business models by enhancing transparency, reducing transaction costs, automating contractual interactions, and mitigating fraud risks. Particular attention is paid to the use of smart contracts, supply chain management, financial transactions, and auditing. A comparative analysis of the benefits and challenges of implementing blockchain technologies in the business sector is presented, identifying key barriers: the lack of a regulatory framework, the complexity of integration with existing IT systems, high financial costs, and insufficient staff digital literacy. The author emphasizes that the further development and effective implementation of blockchain technologies are possible if they are combined with other digital tools, particularly artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data processing technologies. It is concluded that blockchain is not merely a technological tool but also a strategic factor in the development of the digital economy, capable of shaping a new architecture of economic interaction and strengthening the competitive positions of enterprises.

У статті досліджується потенціал блокчейн-технологій як інструменту оптимізації бізнес-процесів у контексті цифрової економіки. На основі аналізу теоретичних основ та практичних прикладів показано, що блокчейн сприяє трансформації традиційних бізнес-моделей шляхом підвищення прозорості, зниження транзакційних витрат, автоматизації договірних взаємодій та зменшення ризиків шахрайства. Особлива увага приділяється використанню смарт-контрактів, управлінню ланцюгами поставок, фінансовим операціям та аудиту. Запропоновано порівняльний аналіз переваг та проблем впровадження блокчейн-технологій у сфері підприємництва, який дозволив виявити ключові бар'єри – відсутність нормативно-правової бази, складність інтеграції з існуючими ІТ-системами, високі фінансові витрати та недостатній рівень цифрової грамотності персоналу. Автор наголошує, що подальший розвиток та ефективне впровадження блокчейн-технологій можливе за умови їх поєднання з іншими цифровими інструментами, зокрема, штучним інтелектом, Інтернетом речей та технологіями обробки великих даних. Зроблено висновок, що блокчейн – це не лише технологічний інструмент, а й стратегічний фактор розвитку цифрової економіки, здатний формувати нову архітектуру економічної взаємодії та зміцнювати конкурентні позиції підприємств.
