Abstract

The article explores the process of de-Sovietization of Ukrainian legislation as a crucial step in the country’s legal transformation after the collapse of the USSR. It highlights that many outdated Soviet-era laws remained in effect in Ukraine for decades, hindering legal modernization. The adoption of the Law on De-Sovietization in 2022 aims to eliminate these obsolete norms and prepare the legal system for alignment with EU standards. The article also addresses the need to reform legal terminology, removing Russian influences and introducing standardized Ukrainian legal language. The author emphasizes that legal reforms should be accompanied by educational and cultural initiatives to foster a deeper civic identity.
