Анотація

The article records, structures and comprehensively analyses sensitive media content regarding correctness/ incorrectness of nominations of individuals from certain communities. It focuses on names of people from ethnic and social groups represented in the language of modern media. Relevant equivalents are proposed that correlate with the rules of social and linguistic etiquette, as well as testify to the observance of professional standards. The focus was on media texts with nominations violating ethical norms and linguistic culture. Incorrect nominations of people based on ethnicity, gender stereotypes, age, and social status are analyzed. Exaggerated headlines with expressive evaluative labels were recorded, which is a manifestation of noncompliance with professional standards. The language experience shows that media professionals violate the journalism of tolerance by using ethically incorrect phrases or statements. It is noted that incorrect nominations are presented both in the title complex of publications and in the textual content of the materials. It was found that such statements about certain categories of people generate the so-called hate speech, so they are unjustified in media communication. It is necessary to indicate the relevant characteristics of a person or group of persons only in cases where this information is important, i.e., an integral part of the publication. When covering stories about women and men, it is important to take into account the gender sensitivity of the text. The comprehensiveness and objectivity of the study was ensured by the use of a number of methods: descriptive, which systematised and characterised language units that are outside the scope of ethical norms and journalistic tolerance; contextual analysis used to identify and clarify the role of incorrect vocabulary and terminology within the analysed texts; communicative and pragmatic analysis, which helps to determine the impact of sensitive content on recipients, including vulnerable groups.
